Dr Carlos Corredor is a consultant in Cardiothoracic Critical Care and Anaesthesia at Barts Heart Centre, London, where he has been in post since 2017. Dr Corredor completed medical school at Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia in 2000, then moved to London where he dual trained in anaesthesia and intensive care, rotating through major tertiary centres. Following completion of his U.K. training, he undertook a fellowships in cardiothoracic anaesthesia / critical care and anaesthesia for major transplant at Toronto General Hospital, Ontario, Canada. During his time in North America, he obtained certification in advanced perioperative echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography of the U.S. Dr Corredor’s special interests include the perioperative care of patients undergoing major aortovascular surgery, neurological protection and monitoring, haemostasis and blood conservation and the use of perioperative point of care ultrasound. Dr Corredor currently leads the cardiothoracic critical care unit at Barts Heart Centre.

Dr Rob Feneck retired from clinical practice in 2014, having been a cardiothoracic anaesthetist since 1981, initially at the London Chest Hospital and latterly at St Thomas’ Hospital. He was elected Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2008. He retired from academic practice at Kings College, London in 2016, and became a Diplomate in the History of Medicine (DHMSA) in 2021. He is currently a volunteer with the Heritage section at the Association of Anaesthetists. He was formerly Chairman of the Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists (ACTACC), President of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists (EACTACC), and President of the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland.

Gavin Murphy is an academic cardiac surgeon at the University of Leicester. He graduated in Medicine at the University of Bristol and went on to obtain his MD from the University of Leicester. He trained in Cardiothoracic Surgery in the South West of England and in Lausanne Switzerland, and was appointed as a Walport Consultant Senior Lecturer in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Bristol in 2007. He was appointed to the British Heart Foundation Chair of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Leicester in 2012.
His research interests include diseases affecting the thoracic aorta, blood management (TiTRE2 trial, NEJM 2015), and the prevention of perioperative organ injury. His research has been awarded the Ronald Edwards Medal and the John Parker Medal by the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland, and the Hans G Borst Award for Thoracic Aortic Surgery, by the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons. He is the Director of the Leicester CTU and the Cardiothoracic Surgery Lead for the Royal College of Surgeons of England Clinical Trials Initiative.
